Sport Switzerland and other studies

In cooperation with its partners the Swiss Sport Observatory periodically carries out the "Sport Switzerland Study" aimed at providing in-depth information on sports activity and sports consumption in Switzerland. After 2000, 2008, and 2014, the most recent study has been published in 2020.

Other studies by the Swiss Sport Observatory include the national club and association study, studies on success in Olympic Games and a number of research papers.

General information

Since 2004 the Swiss Sport Observatory has been collecting and analysing sport related data on behalf of the Federal Office for Sport. The Observatory's main objective is the independent monitoring of the development of Swiss sport and sports policy.

The Sport Observatory's activities are supported by the Federal Statistical Office, the Swiss Council for Accident prevention, the Swiss National Accident Insurance Fund, Swiss Olympic and further partner organisations.

Indicators

The core of the Observatory consists of 28 indicators relating to a wide range of themes concerning sport and physical activity in Switzerland.

Basis information on these indicators are available online. Further information is available in PDF-documents (in German only).
